I’m Sue, a South Australian silversmith, a sailor and lately a Kintsugi artisan. My studio is located in Adelaide's inner suburbs. I design and make everything with my hands.
The Goose came to life about 10 years ago after friends encouraged me as they loved what I was making and wanted to buy my special pieces.
I named the business Silver Goose Jewellery after the first brooch I made.
I tend to see something and wonder how it will work in silver. When I saw a full-size statue of a goose with backwards boots in the window of the Jam Factory I had to give it a go.
So I created this funky little goose wearing backwards boots – quirky, whimsical, cute and a bit different. This is me… this is my style… is it yours too?
For the last few years I have been learning how to repair broken porcelain and china pieces using the traditional Japanese method of Kintsugi. This process uses natural urishi, a lacquer to glue the pieces together and gold or silver to provide a uniquely beautiful finish. I have restored lots of treasured pieces for people using this traditional method.
If you love my work as much as the Goose and I love making and repairing special pieces for our dear friends and customers, please follow and share our journey on Facebook and Instagram with your friends too!
